From Hong Kong to US 从香港到美国
Patty is a native from Hong Kong. She received her pre-collegiate education from a Girls Christian Academy founded by British missionaries more than a century ago. Even though Patty grew up in the “Cultural Desert”, as Hong Kong was commonly known, she flourished in the school environment with arts and music as an integral part of everyday life. Throughout the school years, Patty was an active member of the school choir, Hong Kong Hand Bell choir, and Hong Kong Youth Choir which performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic regularly. After she was baptized in her teen years, she sang with the adult church choir and traveled with the youth music group to local gospel meetings to witness for Christ for several years. The different experiences in Hong Kong provided Patty a broad spectrum of music styles – old and new, east and west, classical and contemporary, sacred and secular – and a strong foundation for her music appreciation.
Patty has been in US for over thirty years now. Her love for music has also changed from Pop to Gospel or Sacred. When she was in the Huntsville Symphony Choir, she was introduced to the medieval chanting music and deeply appreciated the impact of worship music in one’s faith. Patty has been in Nashville for ten years and has been active in church music ministry. In the Music City, she experimented song writing, recording and musical arrangement for both adult and children choirs. But through it all, her passion remains in sharing the gospel through Music and Arts.
Patty has two degrees - BS in Accounting and MS in Telecommunications. She has worked in Fortune 500 companies for many years and now retire to real estate investment. As she starts to go into the golden years, she wants to share her life experiences through different media.
謝麗珠生於香港。她於英國宣教士在一百年前建立的女子基督教學院完成了大學前教育。雖然謝麗珠在號稱“文化沙漠”的香港長大，但她生活在一個藝術和音樂性濃厚的學校氛圍中。在多年的學校生活中，謝麗珠曾是學校合唱團，香港手鈴樂團和香港青年合唱團的活躍成員。當時香港青年合唱團也常與香港交響樂團一起演出。她於青少年時期受浸後，參加了教會成人詩班，並經常與青年音樂團體到當地的佈道會見證基督。在香港的各種經歷使得謝麗珠能夠熟悉廣泛的音樂風格—民歌, 搖滾、中文, 英文、古典, 現代、聖樂, 流行歌曲等等—並打好她很深的音樂鑑賞基礎。
謝麗珠已在美學習生活过三十年。她多年來的信仰使她的音樂愛好也慢慢的集中在福音和聖樂上。當她在Huntsville交響樂團合唱團時, 曾唱誦經和中世紀的崇拜音樂, 這對她的信仰有深遠的影響。謝麗珠已到納城幾年，並一直積極參與教會音樂事工。在這個“音樂城” 中，她進行寫歌，錄音和為教會成人與兒童合唱團排練歌曲。在這麼多年中，她對音樂的熱情絲豪不減, 希望能藉此博客與朋友們分享。
