I found Nashville Chinese Music Fellowship (NCMF) 纳城音乐团契 in 2011. We are a group of Christians from the various Chinese churches in the Greater Nashville area. Even though we are not professionals, we have the fire in our heart to do something for Christ. The goal is to reach out to the Chinese communities and preach the gospel through music. We held about 3-4 events a year at different venues and we received quite a bit of attention in the community. Unfortunately, I decided to close the fellowship a few years later due to everyone's busy schedule and the decline in membership. Even though we are not singing as a group, I still sing in the community events such as Chinese New Year celebrations etc. For the group, I have saved all the artifacts - music sheets, binders, pictures, press release copies and the songs that I wrote for the group. I enjoy the group, people and programs thoroughly. It will always be in my heart.
The pictures in this posting are from our first event on March 3rd, 2012. It was our first and perhaps the most successful program. It was colorful and packed with excellent performances. More than 200 people attended and by Chinese church standard, this was a huge turnout. I rented the venue from Christ Church of Nashville and I paid the sound engineer as it was required. I didn't pay for a photographer but my friend had a professional camera so the pictures came out the best out of all our events. I didn't have the performances recorded but in retrospect, I should have. However, I still think the production was fairly professional for a small group like us. The theme of the program was "love" based on the passage in I Corinthians 13:4-8. I sang a few solos, the pastors from other Chinese churches and a couple out of towners sang or played instruments. Overall, it was a spirit filled and very memorable experience for people who participated or attended. (An old lady came up to me afterwards and said she didn't want to leave when it was finished. Bless her heart.)
